Chantek is Aidli Mosbit’s first solo compilation that fits eight of her plays written as early as 1993. This collection does not only trace her journey as an arts practitioner, but also her acute observation of the society – its lamentation, ideals and hope. Chantek (which is the old spelling of cantik, meaning beautiful) is a social documentation that serves as an important research material, besides Aidli’s colorful writing that simply makes it a joy to read. Aidli’s plays have been staged both locally and overseas and are also used in schools and higher institutions, in Singapore and Malaysia.

This compilation also includes newspaper articles as well as essays by Singapore theatre practitioners – Zulfadli Rashid (Big), Zizi Azah Effendi, Molizah Mohd Mohter, Shida Mahadi and Rafeyah Abdul Rahman. Its preface is written by Dr Azhar Ibrahim from the Malay Studies Department, National University of Singapore.

Aidli Mosbit

Aidli Mosbit is a playwright, director, educator, actor as well as costume and lighting designer. A graduate from Queensland University Technology in Drama, Aidli has collaborated with many theatre companies, including The Necessary Stage, Teater Kami, W!ld Rice and Teater Ekamatra. Her scripts have previously been published in anthologies like Bisik (Whisper) (Teater Ekamatra & Ethos Books, 2002) and An Anthology of Malaysian & Singaporean Plays (ITBM & NAC, 2015).

Aidli is the founder and director of theatre group, Panggung ARTS, and was the recipient of the Young Artist Award for Theatre in 2008.

6. How will my order be shipped?

We ship via SingPost.

7. How long will it take for my order to reach me?

For local shipment, you will receive your package within 5-10 working days from the date of your order.
For International shipment, you will receive your package within 10–14 working days, subject to custom clearances.

8. How much do you charge for shipping and handling?

Shipping within Singapore is FREE  for all orders delivered via SingPost. If you'd like your books earlier, courier delivery is available at a top up of $5, for a delivery within 5 working days. For international shipments, shipping fees is a flat rate of $20.

9. I have received a faulty item, how do I go about exchanging it?

We take great care to pack your books carefully. However, in the event that your order is damaged (major dents) or faulty (missing pages, mis-prints), we will look into making a one-to-one exchange. Simply email us at hello@localbooks.sg the picture of the damaged book, and we will dispatch a new book for you, and collect back the previous copy.
