Chantek is Aidli Mosbit’s first solo compilation that fits eight of her plays written as early as 1993. This collection does not only trace her journey as an arts practitioner, but also her acute observation of the society – its lamentation, ideals and hope. Chantek (which is the old spelling of cantik, meaning beautiful) is a social documentation that serves as an important research material, besides Aidli’s colorful writing that simply makes it a joy to read. Aidli’s plays have been staged both locally and overseas and are also used in schools and higher institutions, in Singapore and Malaysia.
This compilation also includes newspaper articles as well as essays by Singapore theatre practitioners - Zulfadli Rashid (Big), Zizi Azah Effendi, Molizah Mohd Mohter, Shida Mahadi and Rafeyah Abdul Rahman. Its preface is written by Dr Azhar Ibrahim from the Malay Studies Department, National University of Singapore.ISBN: 9789810935481
